Foulis, Bower, and Mikeska Pitch Gems, But Only 2 Can Win

The last full night of the regular season featured great pitching, as only 6 total runs were scored in 30 offensive innings. The early game was a pitchers duel between Jim Foulis and Brooks Bower, tied at 0 after 7. Foulis pitched the A's thru the top of the 8th, but the international tie break runner scored from second base on a single in the bottom of the frame, giving the A's the 1-0 victory. In the nightcap, Ron Mikeska and the Ales shut out Trane 5-0. Ronnie Rise Ball induced 16 fly ball outs out of Trane, who lost their second game in their last three. Though there is one more regular season game to be played (A's at Jackalopes next week), the final standings are set. Trane will be the one seed in the tournament finishing at 7-2 followed by Ales at 6-3, then with one to play, A's is the three at 4-4, and Jackalopes at 0-8. Playoffs will start on Monday July 27.
